I've been asked many times if I could move any where in the world, where would I choose.??
Here. This place. This mountain range. This climate.
I'm not a fan of big, busy, noisy places.
I like small towns and "folks".
"Folks"-meaning those that aren't afraid to say "howdy" or "hello" ....or actually look at you when you are talking to them and not focused on an electronic device.
"Folks" that still slow down and don't get in a rush at the checkout counter in the grocery store while they are behind you and so they push against you with their basket because that's their way of saying "hurry up".....you get my drift??
On this particular afternoon, a breeze was blowing pretty steady and the clouds had rolled their way above us all day.
Snow had graced the range the night before and we had spent most of our day hiking and revisiting areas that we knew wildlife was hanging out.
The sun was absolutely beautiful as it graced the golden grasses and spotted the mountain range with its wonder.
When we arrived back at Schwabacher's Landing, there were maybe 3 cars parked there. A few visitors had the same idea.
To just make the short walk back to the reflection pond and soak it all in .....one more time.
(We were heading into YS the next morning)

The light dapples this landscape with ease.
I am convinced that some of the most dramatic photos can be found here. I've taken a few myself. It's something I don't feel I will ever tire of......or retire from....this place.
In the photo below, I happened to capture a couple in the right hand, lower corner who lingered about as long as Dewayne and myself.

This place makes you slow down. This place makes you stop and pay attention to your surroundings.
I love the added attention in the photograph below with the buck-rail fence in the fore-ground. It makes me want to cross over it again and hike down the pathway.....(to the soundtrack of Bonanza.....ha )

Even though the breeze was blowing, I was able to get a few reflections.

The reflecting pond was a little distracted by the breeze. But, it didn't stop me or anyone else from grabbing a few shots of it's surroundings.
I can almost feel that wistful wind and hear those trees singing with it.

I could almost envy the wildlife that lives here. They have no clue of the beauty that surrounds them.
We passed this little critter as we made our way back to the car. It was munching down on a pine cone. Literally had a mouthful.
It was not spooked by our presence at all.

Just look at those trees. One of my favorites........aside from the Aspens

The colors of autumn. I'd take these colors any day of the week.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed my banter for today.
I had to revisit this place. It's a gloomy, cold day in Texas and everything is drab. No snow to make anything beautiful......even snow makes ugly beautiful.
I needed sunshine. So, I went to my pictures.
Till next time...
Happy trails to you.
Over and out.
